Governance Structure

Oversight committee

An oversight committee is composed of members of Open NeuroPET but also other international experts in brain imaging and in data sharing are part of the oversight committee. Members are: Gitte Knussen, Robert Innis, Melanie Ganz (OpenNeuro PET), Koen Van Laere and Russ Poldrack. The committee’s deliberations operate as follows: 2 co-chairs are appointed and one co-chair must be present, a simple majority is considered a quorum to conduct business, and decision-making is obtained by consensus.

The role of the oversight committee is to:
  • - officially represent Public-nEUro and disseminate information.
    - provide guidance and direction on policies and scientific choices (vision and purpose aligned with Open NeuroPET).
    - review free vs. paying services and discuss the sustainability of the platform.
    - review activities (summarised by the management committee).

Management Committee

The management committee is composed of members of the Neurobiology Research Unit who work directly on Open NeuroPET and/or Public-nEUro. The role of the management committee is to:
  • - ensure that Public-nEUro supports the vision and purpose set by the oversight committee.
    - define the components of Public-nEUro that subserve the vision and purpose (i.e. set the technical specification).
    - review external applications and provide audits.
    - review datasets usage with regards to storage minimization and renewal of paying hosting service.
    - provide summaries of activity to the oversight committee.



Data Protection Officer

The platform operates with the help of a DPO whose role is
  • - advise and provide reports to the Oversight Committee and the Management Committee, including a DPIA.
    - work with the Management Committee to identify and assess risks.
    - review regularly data access rights, which data are accessed by whom to ensure good records and prepare possible audits.
    - contact authors (the data controller) and be the primary contact point with authorities in case of a security breach.
