Governance Structure

Oversight committee

An oversight committee is composed of members of Open NeuroPET and other international experts in brain imaging and data sharing. Members are: Gitte Knussen, Robert Innis, Melanie Ganz (OpenNeuro PET), Koen Van Laere and Russ Poldrack. The committee's deliberations operate as follows: two co-chairs are appointed and at least one co-chair must be present; a simple majority is considered a quorum to conduct business, and decision-making is by consensus.

The role of the oversight committee is to:
  • - officially represent PublicnEUro and disseminate information.
    - provide guidance and direction on policies and scientific choices (vision and purpose aligned with Open NeuroPET).
    - review free vs. paying services and discuss the sustainability of the platform.
    - review activities (summarised by the management committee).

Management Committee

The management committee is composed of members of the Neurobiology Research Unit who work directly on Open NeuroPET and/or PublicnEUro. The role of the management committee is to:
  • - ensure that PublicnEUro supports the vision and purpose set by the oversight committee.
    - define the components of PublicnEUro that subserve the vision and purpose (i.e., set the technical specifications).
    - review external applications and provide audits.
    - review dataset usage with regard to storage minimization and renewal of paid hosting services.
    - provide summaries of activity to the oversight committee.

Data Protection Officer

The platform operates with the help of a DPO whose role is to:
  • - advise and provide reports to the Oversight Committee and the Management Committee, including a DPIA.
    - work with the Management Committee to identify and assess risks.
    - regularly review data access rights, including which data are accessed by whom, to ensure good records and prepare for possible audits.
    - contact authors (the data controller) and be the primary contact point with authorities in case of a security breach.
